Lennyns Birth Story

I cannot believe I now have another baby.
She is so sweet and we are so happy that she's here!!

On Tuesday the 28th I went to my midwife appointment and decided for the first time I was going to get 'checked'. Bad idea.. I was a 0. No dilation. No effacement. And I cried.

Wednesday, my due date, came and went. Thursday did the same.. along with Friday.
Friday night I started having contractions every 10-20 minutes. They weren't anything super painful but it was hard to sleep through them so I took some tylenol and finally got to sleep.

I thought Saturday was the day! But my contractions were now 20-30 minutes apart and were still not painful. I could talk/walk through them. They just felt like cramps with a tight stomach. (SO different than the labor with Harper. I only had back labor with her.) On Saturday night it got a little tougher. The contractions were 10-15 minutes apart for the whole night. I kept waking Colton up to rub my back during the contractions because they were starting to hurt. I didn't sleep at all that night.

I finally woke Colton up at 7 on Sunday morning. I was so tired and I started to cry because I was worried that if I didn't have the baby soon, that I wouldn't be able to do it at home because I just needed some sleep!

I decided to text my midwife, Janell, at 8am and tell her that they were still 10 minutes apart but getting painful and lasting a minute or more. We talked for a while and she had some suggestions on how to get some rest or asked if I wanted to be checked. I told her if there were anyone close that I wouldn't mind that. She then told me she would be to our house in an hour. (I cried again.. an hour!? Ugh haha)

At this point I decided to have Harper head to grandmas because the contractions were getting more intense. They weren't coming and closer but longer and I needed to concentrate on them.

Janell got to my house at 10:30 and I got checked. I was a 6!!! Woo a 6! I couldn't believe it. But I was so dang relieved to hear it. She said she didn't think this labor would go past dinner time. I joked and said "Well I hope dinner is at 2!"

As I labored through 1 1/2 hours of contractions I saw Janell head out the door to make a phone call. At that moment I had an extremely strong contraction that made me throw up. And I began to cry. I said "This is so painful. I don't think I can do this. I want it to be over" Janell then told me that she had just called the other Midwife because she didn't think I had much longer to go.

Farrah arrived about 30 minutes later and started filling the pool. I was so excited to finally get my water birth!! Once it was filled - it started leaking! Haha it had a hole in it and we needed to drain it ASAP so it didn't break and flood our new house!

An hour later I felt like I had to go to the bathroom, so I decided to get into our bathtub and see if I wanted to have the baby in there.. or at least labor in there for a bit. Janell checked me again and told me I was only an 8! (I started crying again.. lots of crying!! haha) But said that the minute my water broke I would be at a ten and pushing.

I was scared for them to break my water because that is when it started getting so intense during Harpers birth. I said I would try laboring on my own to see if it would break. The few contractions I had were so intense and I felt like I had to push but nothing was happening. I finally asked Janell how long she had seen someone labor and try to get their water to break naturally.. she said six hours once!! Holy crap I was not doing this for 6 more hours.

So I got up and layed on my bed. I asked her to break my water and immediately I was starting to push. 15 minutes later.. at 2:35pm Lennyn Briar Lindsay was born! 19 1/4 inches and 7 pounds. I got my 2 o'clock dinner!

When she came out she swallowed some of my water and had a big poop so they needed to give her some oxygen just to get out of her lungs. And then she was great! Nursed immediately and has been perfect ever since.

This birth was just what I needed for my second. Intense but short!
Colton was so supportive and ended the birth with "I am impressed. You only told me to shut up once!" haha what a good sport :)

I am so grateful to God for getting me through.
And for my gorgeous daughter who is healthy and beautiful.
Life is seriously so good!
